The Walking-Incompetent

As time goes by, I notice more and more how incapable people are of walking. I'm not talking about children - they're bad enough but given their childish hyperactivity, I find that to be somewhat acceptable (although there does seem to be something of a lack of parental control these days). No, I'm talking about fully-grown, able-bodied adults. They really are worse than skittish sheep. In my first post, I stated that I live in Blackpool. This is true but I have not always lived in Blackpool. I am originally from Scotland. I have lived and worked in many places in Scotland though. One thing I have found to be true is that, regardless of location, people seem to be shite at doing one of the most basic things - a thing most people do on a daily basis - putting one foot in front of the other. I try to walk a lot. To be honest, it is one of the few forms of exercise I actually do. When I'm out walking, I try my hardest to not inconvenience anyone else. I walk in a straight ...

YouTubers, Please …

Music Under Speech - Please Nope! I'll start by telling you that I'm an avid content consumer. I spend a lot of time watching videos on YouTube. There are some things which bother me though. Things I wish people would do differently. I am not trying to tell anyone how to run their own channels, simply giving my point of view in the hope that it helps to 1. Make things easier for people like me to enjoy what is created and 2. Help current and future YouTubers to gain more subscribers. My first issue is people who add music under speech. I can’t hear what you’re saying if there’s music. I am autistic. Like many other autistic people, I have sensory issues. This means that if there are other noises in your video while you’re speaking, my brain can’t process the words you’re saying and your video becomes unwatchable for me. I will stop watching immediately and probably never check out anything else you do. This saddens me a lot. There are many very talented YouTubers out there whos...

Channel 4 Plus - Adverts

I was visiting my mum in Scotland recently and found myself bored after she went to bed. I decided to watch Taskmaster on the Channel 4 app. I love Taskmaster. I don’t often get the chance to sit down and binge it and so when I do, I don’t want my experience being interrupted by adverts. Channel 4 has the perfect solution to this, or so I thought. You see, Channel 4 offers a subscription service. They say you can “Stream 1500 shows ad free*”, they follow that with “Save time and watch more!” Note the asterisk though. The note associated with it states that “For contractual reasons, some programmes contain ads or promotional trails for other programmes.” That last part is the kicker and for me, the deal-breaker. If I am paying for a service, I do not want to be advertised to. To be more accurate, I want NOT to be advertised to. I am paying for the service, not the adverts. You are taking my money and you are taking someone else’s money for the same thing. Nope! You see, I am autist...

Well Hello There!

Hello and welcome to my little corner of the web. Let’s start off with a content warning: this site will most definitely contain strong language in the fullness of time. If that’s something which offends you then I suggest you go elsewhere and find something a bit more wholesome to occupy your time. So, what will this site be used to convey? Christ knows, but probably a fair amount of bitching and whining about the things which get on my nerves. I suspect there will also be recommendations for things I find recommendable - I tend to like sharing things which interest me and things I approve of with others. Now, let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is David. I am autistic (late diagnosed). I live in Blackpool and have done for the last 8 years. I still love Blackpool and am a massive advocate for the town and the businesses herein. You’ll probably find me talking a lot about the things I get up to when I’m out and about here. I was born in Scotland and lived there until I relocat...
